Return Of The One-Armed Swordsman

Classic Shaw Brother Sword actioner
Pretty good sequel to The One-Armed Swordsman also starring Jimmy Wang Yu. There's more action here and the fight choreography pretty neat considering that its an early 70s production. I make this distinction coz the wire work in 60s and early 70s productions weren't as sophisticated as the wire work in movies of the late 70s and early 80s when Ching Siu Tung(aka the Gerry Anderson of the East)entered the industry and raised standards in the wirefu genre.
Story's alittle naff here and there but that can be put down to the character's stupidity and lack of common sense but if you don't try and think too much into it you'll have a good time and enjoy Liu Chia Liang and Tang Chia's early fight choreography. Picture quality and sound excellent! And its great to watch a kungfu or wire fu movie in the original mandarin or cantonese sound track!! A big Hurrah for Chivalry!!!

The follow up to "The One Armed Swordsman" tells the tale of the one armed swordsman living a peaceful farmer's life until eight warriors using unique weapons and tactics force all swordsmen in China to fight them to the death. The reason why this group wants to have such complete dominance in the sword fighting world is never fully explained but as the adventure unfurls the message seems to be that violence begets violence. The film fails to meet the cinematic heights of the original since the enemies have little to no background or motivation that makes them compelling. The fighting is well choreographed and will entertain. The extra features are slim but it the film stock is well restored like other Dragon Dynasty releases. This DVD is best for completist who want all of the "One-Armed" style of films.

2D(o)pe!!!
Wow!This guy really makes me wanna cut off my right arm & learn the one armed style(lol). This movie is sooo sick,it has way more action than the 1st one, good storyline,& even sicker weapons(THERE'S A SWORD GUN!!!)I bought this the same day as "5 Element Ninja's" & this movie had a greater impact.COPP IT!
