"How the Earth Was Made" is the History channel's detailed look at specific areas of the planet and how they came to be shaped the way they are. The title of the series sounds like they would explain how Earth came into being with the Big Bang theory in one episode and boom! be done, but this is the second season so they've really stretched out individual landmarks.

This series starts off with places like The Grand Canyon and its carving by the Colorado river among other things, Mt. Vesuvius and its ability to possibly kill 3 million people in Naples if it erupts, and then in the third episode finally gets into the actual planet formation or "Birth of the Earth". Does this mean it wasn't covered in the first season?? Other great episodes include Sahara where you find out it was once covered in ice and grew lots of plantlife, and much more in the way of mountains, valleys,...

Ever Moving, Ever Changing Planet
Did you know that North America and Scotland were once connected? Why are there remnants of sea creatures on top of mountains and mountains under the sea? This is one of the most fascinating series I've ever watched. We humans think we have so much control over the future of this planet. Yes, recycling and being "green" will help, but ultimately, the planet will do what the planet has always done -- change on its own,whether humans do anything or not. I highly recommend this truly amazing series.

A must have for science teachers!
I teach middle school science and live in the Pacific Northwest. Being so close to Mt. St. Helens makes it easy to get students interested in volcanoes. This set contains an excellent explanation of the events that took place surrounding the eruptions at Mt. St. Helens. The other movies are equally good. These videos are informative, yet not at all boring. They move quickly.

SAD CYPRESS (Agatha Christie's Poirot)

Go Aggie !!!
Devilishly clever plot, richly woven tapestry of characters, fine oerformances by Suchet and numerous British actors whose faces have graced Midsomer, Foyle's War and other fine productions. If you don't enjoy this the first time you see it, you are destined not to like Agatha much at all. But Suchet's cloak is amazingle consistent and brilliant.

One of the best!
The plot, characters and production in general makes this one of the best Poirot's I can remember. I recommend it highly.

Paranormal Cops: The Complete Season One

great show!!
yeah it took place in Chicago I believe supposedly a great city or was it philly?? somewhere over there anyways was a great show I am somewhat amazed that these cops took such an interest in the paranormal that they had a whole company and everything.It's great this guy was very open minded on issues involving the paranormal and I saw the episode where the guys' working basement was haunted and it was really very good and entertaining.I say kudos for cops getting involved in this.did they cancel this show?what a shame they always cancel the good ones....

Why only 1 season?
I ran across this show on-line by accident, and after watching all the episodes, I'm not quite sure why it
didn't get a second season. I found it to be as good or better than other paranormal shows that have been
on the air for years. Maybe A&E didn't promote it enough, who knows? It's a shame though, as I felt that
the investigative skills of Tom, Ron and the other police officers and technicians added a greater legitimacy
to the CPD. I also like that they said a prayer of protection before each case - smart move as who knows
what's really out there? And if I ever found myself needing the services of such a group? I do believe that
these guys would be at the top of my list.

Real Characters
It is a shame this show only ran one season! The investigators are so east coast cop! Rough around the edges and intense. The ghosthunting was a little lacking in organization and the dependence on the psychic a little much. I like the stories and I liked the crew. Pure fun to watch

Pawn Stars: Season Two

Interesting and a great way to learn about history & negotiation

The "Pawn Stars" reality series has made it into a second season from the History Channel about a family-run Gold and Silver Pawn shop in Las Vegas with three generations of men assessing the value of antiques, historical items, vehicles, and junk from a number of bizarre customers in need of money.

Rick Harrison and his father affectionately coined "The Old Man" own the shop together. Rick's son, Corey known as "Big Hoss" is hoped to one day take over the shop if only he and his idiot friend, Austin "Chumlee" Russell were less moronic. Each person has their own style with dealing with customers, but always take the same steps to assess by asking questions, calling in experts when their own knowledge is lacking, and in the restoration process of certain items.

Supreme
The other rewiewer is out of his mind. This show is great and shows how to negotiate in a fair way. This dvd comes with 32 episodes.

Pawning
That first reviewer must have had a bad experience with a pawn shop. Either he got mad about a deal they offered him on something he thought should have been worth more, or his dad told him some horror stories about pawn shops.

What's great about this show is all the items people try to sell. You usually get a brief history lesson on the items brought into the shop. It's especially great when there's a rare item involved. Once, sometimes twice an episode, a specialist is brought in to take a look at an item to check out authentic qualities or otherwise.

It's also cool to see the negotiations take place, and to see the look on the customer's face when he's looking for a lot of money and not getting it.

Now since this is a reality show, the other factor of the show is "the characters" - The Harrison family who own the pawn shop over in Las Vegas. There's Rick, his father referred to as The Old Man, and Rick's son Cory - Big Hoss. And of course,...
